The F1 Gridwalkers: Looking Back: Abu Dhabi 2010

f1gridwalkers:

As we look forward to this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (Free Practise 1 starts on 11/11/11), we’d like to take a look back on last year’s stellar conclusion to the brilliant 2010 season.

November 14, 2010 – The fates and destinies of three men hang in the balance. November 14, 2010 could go down in history as the day Red Bull Racing, the newly crowned World Constructors’ Champion, failed to give Mark Webber OR Sebastian Vettel the World Drivers’ Championship and hand the crown in a silver platter to Fernando Alonso and Ferrari. November 14, 2010 could go down in history as the day Fernando Alonso got his third world championship. But as fate would have it, November 14, 2010 actually came down in history as the Day Red Bull Racing (and) Renault Red Bulldozed and Red Bullied their competitions out of the way by helping Sebastian Vettel clinch the 2010 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. Fans of Sebastian Vettel cried in unison as Sebastian crossed the finish line and cried his heart out whilst on the other side of the spectrum, Mark’s fans and Fernando’s supporters heard the breaking of their own hearts (alongside their chosen driver’s). From Manila to Milan, and everywhere in between, Formula 1 fans all over the world were treated to a nail-biter of a race and were awarded with a new worthy Formula 1 World Champion

There were tons of fantastic moments during Abu Dhabi 2010. Mine was Jenson Button shooting past Fernando Alonso during the start ;)

How about you?

What are your favourite moments from Abu Dhabi 2010?

Vitaly being the boss he is and holding up Alonso for ages. <3 I don’t think I’d ever been so nervous for a goddamn race before, or since. It was flawless.

The most memorable thing for me is the whole day. I was in Marrakech, Morocco for the holidays and I had to run to the hotel to watch the race. It was amazing. We had to check out of the hotel once the race was run, but I kind of kept everybody waiting until the post-race press conference was over. I mean- Your favourite driver becomes world champion. Why on earth should you miss a moment of it?
